I am happy to report that London's PLAYLOUDER received the IMEA 2004 Award at the Popkomm conference in Berlin last Friday. I am the chairman and producer of IMEA, and this award is given to the most innovative company in the music & entertainment space. Playlouder was unanimously selected by the jury (which included Jim Griffin, Tim Renner, Peter Jenner, Rupert Perry, John Schuch, Jeremy Silver, and myself) for pioneering a model that everyone agreed will be the future: flat fee payments for content, or, to put in Jim Griffin's words: "a pool of money and a fair way to split it up".
Runner-ups were Berlin's Jukecharts (an online dance industry promotion tool), on 2nd place, and Nico Koepke's KODIME from London (a mobile marketing services provider for the entertainment industries), on 3rd place. Check it out!
Btw, the pho list has once again shown to be an amazing networking tool, and a hive of creativity. Popkomm, btw, was a huge blast, with lots of very interesting panels, and a newly-found international focus (finally....;) A great new start in Berlin! Also, I had one of the most amazing dinners EVER, following the IMEA show, with most of the Jury members, the winner, as well as John and Steve from Weed, Nico of Kodime, Bill Rosenblatt of the www.drmwatch.com and others offering hot debates that kicked our brains into hyperdrive (well... along with the Schnaps....)
